Arthur Whitney Shail is a locally grown artist who’s career began in 2012. A native to Southington, CT and graduate of SHS, Art had a long stemming interest in the tattooing industry. In January of 2012 he began his apprenticeship in Bristol, CT at the Inkwell tattoo studio. He learned from a number of incredibly gifted artists, but gravitated towards his mentor Nycci. By 2014 Arthur had completed his apprenticeship and became licensed in the state of Connecticut. In 2019 he began working at the Golden Sparrow ETC (formerly the Apothecary Body Arts) in Plainville, CT where he remained until 2025. 

 

A well rounded artist, Art’s style is influenced by realism with illustrative elements. Though soft shading and stippled black and gray tattoos are his niche, Arthur also enjoys vibrantly colored tattoos, custom lettering and coverups. His love of animals shines through his artwork. Growing up as a child in the 90’s Art grew fond of Pokémon, marvel, transformers and all things monstrous which influence his art to this day. His pursuit and passion of tattooing can be summed up in the words of the late Arthur H. Shail, “Do whatever makes you happy, and f#ck what anyone else says."
